Intensive In-Home Services address the needs of individuals and families experiencing emotional difficulties. The need to provide quality mental health services to children and youth in the Central Virginia area, where the economic situation often does not support private pay insurance, was a primary factor in developing the program, which was rolled out in April 2009. Human Services in the Commonwealth of Virginia is focused on providing services to youth in their home communities, preventing out-of-home placements and assisting youth transition home after residential placements.
The Intensive-In Home Services are flexible clinical support services for children/youth with behavorial and emotional challenges. Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) provide the services and understand the family's unique needs and support the family's existing strengths and resources. The QMHPs are trained in diverse therapeutic approaches to strengthen the family structure, provide stability and support and encourage the family's use of community resources.
