The Sponsored Homes model of care is the newest program for adults, which started in September 2010. It provides residential services to adults with intellectual disabilities. Families who wish to provide this service open up their homes and their hearts to individuals with intellectual disabilities who wish to live in a family setting in the community. We oversee the support provided by the family and we're responsible for support coordination services.
The goal of our sponsored homes is to bring individuals with intellectual disabilities into the community to live with loving and supportive families. This is a more flexible option for support than either a state institution or a group home. This model of care gives individuals a family setting, more personal, one-on-one attention and a consistent network of support.
Would you like to make a difference in the life of an adult with intellectual disabilities? Presbyertian Homes & Family Services is looking for families willing to open their homes and their hearts to others. PHFS is a licensed provider of Sponsored Homes Services by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services.
